MY STORY

ABOUT NATS

"There is no substitute for being in the ocean. I mean, truly. But the next best thing is taking people there vicariously to show them, let them try to see what you see."
Dr. Sylvia Earle

This is my story:
Nathalia Moreno

I’m a bit of a nomad, it’s hard for me to stay in one place.

Life has given me the opportunity to discover unique places through the eyes of genuine people whom call the world their home. Traveling to most continents over the past 25 years has brought me closer to many cultures, incredible species, and natural wonders.

But most importantly, human beings with a philosophy of life where the common denominator is conservation of our planet and to give without expecting anything in return.

I now feel like a citizen of the world, respectful of the environment, and committed to conservation. Passionate about the ocean and the great leviathans of the deep. Enjoying the wilderness of the desert and the connection with the ancestral.

I go wherever I feel the earth Is calling.

Come and join me. This experience will touch your lives forever.

A Life Changing Experience

I remember my first time going to the Baja Lagoons to visit the Gray Whales in 2012. I had zero expectations; I really didn’t know much about these encounters. At the time, social media wasn’t big on wildlife interactions and the Lagoons were a hidden secret. So not much was talked about it.

On our first day going out on the boat, I was already amazed by the number of whales we were seeing at a distance- spouts, breaches, tail slaps… and I thought WOW, this is incredible! Little did I know that moments later we would be magically surrounded by Gray Whales searching for a connection with us.

It is an experience that can bring you to tears. Time stands still and nothing else matters.

It’s something that you can see with your eyes but at the same time you can’t believe it’s real. Your brain is soaking up that moment until it reaches your soul, leaving an everlasting memory.

How is it that this gentle 40 ton prehistoric mammal can be moving through the shallow waters of the lagoons with such grace? That a Whale brings her calf  close to you so that they can feel your touch and hear your voice? It is something that even 10 years later, after countless trips, I still can’t wrap my head around.

This is how Nats Off The Grid began, and how my passion for the ocean was awakened.

I had always loved to travel and explore, but the underwater world was a part of the planet that up until that moment, I hadn’t really explored.

And I have not stopped since.

On March 2020 we booked a trip with Nats to take our family of 4 to see the gray whales in Guerrero Negro. We were debating if we should take our boys who were 3 & 5 at the time and we were so happy we did! It was definitely a once in a life time experience. She was very helpful in making sure every aspect of it was well planned and taken care of. The best part was to see the whales and the babies so close and being able to pet them! It is an absolutely amazing adventure!
